Adam Weishaupt was born on 6 February 1748 in Ingolstadt in the Electorate of Bavaria. Weishaupt's father Johann Georg Weishaupt (1717–1753) died when Adam was five years old. After his father's death he came under the tutelage of his godfather Johann Adam Freiherr von Ickstatt who, like his father, was a professor of law at the University of Ingolstadt. Ickstatt was a proponent of the philosophy of Christian Wolff and of the Enlightenment, and he influenced the young Weishaupt with his rationalism. Weishaupt began his formal education at age seven at a Jesuit school. He later enrolled at the University of Ingolstadt and graduated in 1768 at age 20 with a doctorate of law. In 1772 he became a professor of law. The following year he married Afra Sausenhofer of Eichstätt.

After Pope Clement XIV’s suppression of the Society of Jesus in 1773, Weishaupt became a professor of canon law, a position that was held exclusively by the Jesuits until that time. In 1775 Weishaupt was introduced to the empirical philosophy of Johann Georg Heinrich Feder of the University of Göttingen. Both Feder and Weishaupt would later become opponents of Kantian idealism.

Founder of the Illuminati

At a time, however, when there was no end of making game of and abusing secret societies, I planned to make use of this human foible for a real and worthy goal, for the benefit of people. I wished to do what the heads of the ecclesiastical and secular authorities ought to have done by virtue of their offices ...

On 1 May 1776 Weishaupt formed the "Order of Perfectibilists". He adopted the name of "Brother Spartacus" within the order. Though the Order was not egalitarian or democratic, its mission was the abolition of all monarchical governments and state religions in Europe and its colonies.

The actual character of the society was an elaborate network of spies and counter-spies. Each isolated cell of initiates reported to a superior, whom they did not know, a party structure that was effectively adopted by some later groups.

Weishaupt was initiated into the Masonic Lodge "Theodor zum guten Rath", at Munich in 1777. His project of "illumination, enlightening the understanding by the sun of reason, which will dispel the clouds of superstition and of prejudice" was an unwelcome reform. Soon however he had developed gnostic mysteries of his own, with the goal of "perfecting human" nature through re-education to achieve a communal state with nature, freed of government and organized religion. He began working towards incorporating his system of Illuminism with that of Freemasonry.

Weishaupt's radical rationalism and vocabulary was not likely to succeed. Writings that were intercepted in 1784 were interpreted as seditious, and the Society was banned by the government of Karl Theodor, Elector of Bavaria, in 1784. Weishaupt lost his position at the University of Ingolstadt and fled Bavaria.

Planets in Signs
Sun in Aquarius

Aquarians tend to be friendly, original, intuitive, broadminded, nonconforming, different, independent, freedom-loving, scientific, unusual, and helpful. They can also be impersonal, unpredictable, tactless, rebellious, unconventional, stubborn, rigid, radical, bohemian and eccentric. Aquarians like any work which calls for inventiveness and the detached application of special rules or formulae.

Aquarians seek to share knowledge with others in order to bring about a better life for all. Group activity is their customary mode of operation. Helping others so they can help themselves appeals to an Aquarian.

Aquarians are friendly, yet detached, they have warmth, yet they seem distant. Although appearing cold or aloof, they are not really indifferent to others. It's just that they are much more concerned with humanity as a whole rather than any one particular individual. Since Aquarians generally do not have large, pompous or stuffy egos, they rarely bother to exert themselves to win approval or compliments.

Aquarians get excited about bringing new ideas and methods into old, traditional environments. They are philosophical, visionary and idealistic. Feelings of friendship drive them to try to improve the lot of everyone they can. Sometimes the people they want to help don't understand these new ways and react negatively toward them. Sometimes Aquarians are simply ahead of their time, although sometimes they are just cranks.

Aquarians have the determination and persistence to get ahead, but sometimes their energy level is relatively low, which causes them to drop projects before they are completed. Their minds are analytical and scientific and they have the ability to think things through to an accurate conclusion. Although they generally have good powers of concentration and are able to assimilate a lot of information, there are times when they are just plain absentminded.

Aquarians usually get along well with others. They are generally not gossips, nor are they petty. They do not like arguments, unless they feel there is a need to defend a person, an ideal or a principle. Since Aquarians are so willing to listen to the new and different, they have little patience with those who refuse to hear new concepts.

Sometimes Aquarians rebel just for the pleasure of it. They have been known to deliberately do things in an attempt to shock people. Most Aquarians prefer not to be bound by schedules and regulations, but can easily adapt to them if they must. But don't expect them to always be on time for things.

Aquarians dislike people who are possessive of them, since they are generally not possessive of people or things themselves. They give others a lot of personal freedom and they expect the same in return. Since they are not particularly concerned as to what other people think of them, they often do not bother forming opinions about other people's behavior.

In love, Aquarians want an intellectual companion with whom they can communicate. They can be hesitant about making a total commitment such as marriage, or any other form of partnership, because of their desire for independence. However, when an Aquarian marries, the marriage is usually stable. They are loyal and faithful to their marriage partner, but are not prone to excessive displays of affection, especially in public.

Moon in Taurus

Your emotional nature is steadied and others find this quality soothing in you. You are generally even-tempered and peace-loving and are not easily ruffled or given to emotional displays. You can be downright stubborn at times, especially when it comes to making changes that are emotional in nature or that require emotional adjustment. You seek security and often expect this security to come from materials possessions and resources. Hence, you desire to collect material goods and money. You cling to things from the past or things you are used to in order to find this security. A great deal of affection and closeness is needed by you and this helps to assuage feelings of insecurity. But sometimes you hold onto people much too closely so they feel they can't breathe. You expect loyalty in love and you are very devoted to those you care about. You have the tendency to indulge in sensual comforts and activities. Eating rich or sweet food seems to give you security. You may have a weight problem because of this. Food can become a substitute for emotional satisfaction and love. You are resourceful, determined, and persistent. You perhaps have a green thumb and are good at getting anything to grow and prosper. You are happiest when working with your hands, probably with the earth or things of the earth. You can be lead but never pushed into doing things. You hate and fear sickness and pain. Too great a comfort with the status quo can prevent you from making necessary changes. Don't be too rigid in thought or deed.

Mercury in Aquarius

Your thoughts tend to be unique, unusual, rapid and coming completely out of the blue, eccentric, unconventional, scientific, weird and perhaps a bit ahead of their time. You are a progressive and non-traditional thinker and are very open and receptive to new technologies and breakthroughs and the latest discoveries in any field. You believe that humanity can resolve their problems through creative intelligence using inventive minds and scientific principles. You are a bit impatient with those who are conservative and unimaginative and those who are afraid perhaps to think about and try new things and ideas. Keeping abreast of the latest developments and technologies is fun for you. Reading science fiction helps give you food for thought regarding radically new ways of looking at things. You have a strong humanitarian impulse, an aptitude for organization and you enjoy being involved in cooperative group efforts or businesses that are contemporary and innovative. You have a versatile, disciplined, practical and original mind. You are intuitive and resourceful, with the ability to correctly judge human character and penetrate the mask that others wear. You follow your own convictions regardless of what others think of you and you have the ability to express your ideas clearly so that others easily comprehend. On the negative side you can be eccentric, bohemian, radical, revolutionary and stubborn.

Venus in Pisces

Your affections are expressed in sympathetic, compassionate, softhearted, romantic ways. You unselfishly give of yourself to those you love or to those who need or ask for your help. You may be a sucker for any sort of sob story and perhaps give too much at times which make some overly dependent on you. You are very idealistic in matters of love and this sometimes plays itself out whereby you become the martyr or the savior in relationships.

You tend to be more compassionate than passionate and you become involved with others because they need love or need to be "saved" and you want to help them rather than out of mutual attraction or pleasure. You attract and are attracted to those who are sensitive, imaginative, or musically or artistically inclined. Your desire is to find someone you can have a deep, spiritual relationship with. You idealize love and have a very beautiful, romantic vision of what love can be. At times you can simply be in love with love. You may be highly emotional, perhaps overly so, sensitive, artistic, compassionate, gentle and psychic. You can be too easy-going or submissive and allow yourself to be taken advantage of because you do not want other people to feel let down and you don't like to make waves. You may have the attitude that somehow you must suffer in love, and do so willingly.

Mars in Pisces

Your energies and aggressions tend to come out in non-combative and noncompetitive ways. You are a bit of a pacifist and do not enjoy tackling anyone or anything head-on in a directly confrontational manner. Working around people or situations or working behind the scenes, in secret, is more your preferred style. If necessary, it is more your tendency to give up something rather than to fight for it. Because your ego is not especially interested in personal achievement, glorification, material advantage, or winning at the expense of someone else, you may come across to others as weak-willed or ineffectual.

Being on top, being the best, or being first doesn't mean much to you, hence you can be quite happy in a supporting role, working for the benefit of others or for a cause that you believe in. You may experience difficulties in planning clear and definite goals for yourself in the real world. You are not sure what you want out of life, except you instinctively seem to know that you do have and need to find a spiritual purpose. You have many dreams, high ideals, and a strong mystical or religious impulse. You also have a creative imagination and can successfully apply yourself to art or music. You are intuitive, humorous and diplomatic, quiet on the outside, but restless within. On the negative side you can be indecisive, procrastinating, too interested in the sensual side of life, and may resort to using drugs or alcohol as a way to escape the pressures and responsibilities of dealing with everyday life. Learning self-control is important for you. Take action, don't day-dream.

Jupiter in Aquarius

You are a humanitarian and are concerned with the welfare of all people. You believe in the universality of life and the brotherhood of man. Reform and large group projects appeal to you as they give you wide scope for your own personal growth and expansion. You work well with others because of your inventive mind, your keen judgment, your fine intellect and your friendliness. You are intuitive, tolerant and sociable. You make an ideal diplomat, labor relation specialist or personnel manager because of your knack for handling various groups of people.

Saturn in Scorpio

You can be very self-disciplined. You have executive ability and are perceptive and extremely capable. You may have psychic ability. People may find you difficult to understand because of your reserved exterior and secretiveness. Your mind may be mechanically oriented and you are resourceful, even under the most adverse circumstances, patient and persistent. The action and energy of Mars is combined with the forethought of Saturn in a most wonderful combination. Whatever you do is done with intensity. On the negative side, though, there is danger of stubbornness, revenge, lack of forgiveness, resentment, and ruthlessness. Tendencies to grub for money and prestige can cause harm. There can be health problems with constipation or hemorrhoids. There is a need to transform your desires. You need to learn when and how to let go. This also applies to eliminative bodily functions. Holding onto anger can cause stones to develop in the gall bladder or kidneys.

Introduction to Astrology

Astrology is the study of celestial bodies interpreted as affecting personality, human affairs, and natural events. The primary astrological bodies are the Sun, Moon, and planets, which are analyzed by their aspects (relative positions to one another), by their placement in 'houses' (spatial divisions of the sky), and their movement through signs of the zodiac (spatial divisions of the ecliptic).

Astrology in its broadest sense is the search for meaning in the sky, the acquisition of significance being drawn from a combination of observation, correlation, philosophy, logic and lore.

The word astrology comes from the Latin astrologia, deriving from the Greek noun αστρολογία, which combines ἄστρο astro, 'star / celestial body' with λογία logia, 'study of / theory / discourse (about)'.

Belief in astrology holds firm today in many parts of the world: in one poll, 31% of Americans expressed belief in astrology and according to another study 39% considered it scientific. According to Gallup opinion polls, around 25% of adults in the UK and USA accept that astrology or the position of the stars and planets affect people’s lives, whilst other sources report the figure to be much higher.

Astrology has had an influence on both language and literature. For example, influenza, from medieval Latin influentia 'influence', was so named because doctors once believed epidemics to be caused by unfavourable celestial influences. The word disaster comes from the Greek δυσαστρία, disastria, derived from the negative prefix δυσ-, dis- and αστήρ, aster 'star', meaning not-starred or badly-starred. The adjectives lunatic (Luna/Moon), mercurial (Mercury), venereal (Venus), martial (Mars), jovial (Jupiter/Jove), and saturnine (Saturn) are all used to describe personal qualities thought to be influenced by the astrological characteristics of predominating personal planets.

In literature many writers, such as Chaucer and Shakespeare, used astrological symbolism to add subtlety and nuance to the description of their characters' motivations. More recently, Michael Ward has proposed that C.S. Lewis imbued his Chronicles of Narnia with the characteristics and symbols of the seven planets that govern the heavens in medieval astrology. In 1978, notes from Margaret Mitchell’s library revealed that she had based each character from her classic prize-winning novel, Gone with Wind (1936), including the central star-crossed lovers, Scarlett (Aries) and Rhett (Leo), around an archetype of the zodiac. In 2010, a detailed personal horoscope analyzed and illustrated by J.K. Rowling at the time she was writing her first Harry Potter novel, came up for sale. The auctioneer commented that Rowling “displays a detailed knowledge of Western astrology which was later to play an important part in her books". Often, an understanding of astrological symbolism is needed to fully appreciate such literature.

James Hillman (April 12, 1926 - October 27, 2011) was an American psychologist. He studied at, and then guided studies for, the C.G. Jung Institute in Zurich, founded a movement toward archetypal psychology and retired into private practice, writing and traveling to lecture, until his death at his home in Connecticut on October 27, 2011.

Biography

Hillman was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1926. He identified himself as Jewish and European in ancestry. He served in the US Navy Hospital Corps from 1944–1946, after which he attended the Sorbonne in Paris and Trinity College, Dublin, graduating in 1950. In 1959, he received his PhD from the University of Zurich, as well as his analyst's diploma from the C.G. Jung Institute and was then appointed as Director of Studies at the institute, a position he held until 1969. In 1970, Hillman became editor of Spring Publications, a publishing company devoted to advancing Archetypal Psychology as well as publishing books on mythology, philosophy and art. His magnum opus, Re-visioning Psychology, was written in 1975 and nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Hillman then helped co-found the Dallas Institute for Humanities and Culture in 1978. His 1997 book, The Soul's Code: In Search of Character and Calling, was on The New York Times Best Seller List that year. His works and ideas about philosophy and psychology have also been popularized by other authors such as Thomas Moore. His published works, essays, manuscripts, research notes, and correspondence (through 1999) reside at OPUS Archives and Research Center, located on the campuses of Pacifica Graduate Institute in Carpinteria, California.

Archetypal psychology

Archetypal psychology is a vein of inquiry into the psyche inaugurated in the early 1900s by Carl Gustav Jung. Jung and his followers, as well as Mircea Eliade, imagined the psychology of the archetypes from studying anthropology and archeology reports of their times and weaving it into their understandings of the psyche. They studied how the hierarchy of ancient gods, polytheistic religions, and archetypal ideas found in tales might influence modern life with regard to soul, psyche, dreams and the Self.

Aristotle described an archetype as an original from which derivatives or fragments can be taken. In Jung's psychology an archetype is an inherited pattern of thought or symbolic imagery derived from the past collective experience and present in the individual unconscious.

Jung and his followers followed Sigmund Freud and others of Freud's generation, who also investigated, analyzed and put forth theories about how ancient myths, legends, sagas, and religions mimicked some of the broad impulses and drives in the psyche.

There are many psychoanalysts, psychiatrists, psychologists, and therapists who are sometimes called neo-Jungians and who take various approaches to archetypal psychology. These include Jungian psychoanalyst Marion Woodman, with her inquires into the archetypes and dreams of the feminine and how these are affected by clashes and supports from masculine archetypes, therefore influencing soul and psyche in women's development. Jean Shinoda Bolen, a Jungian analyst psychiatrist, has also made a lifetime inquiry into the psychology of archetypes for men and for women, and their basis in conscious growth of the soul. Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Jungian psychoanalyst, holds that insights into soul and psyche, archetypes and dreams were preserved specifically and handed down by indigenous people worldwide, they being the original archetypal theorists.

The inquiry into archetypal psychology has many different subsets, many different progenitors. Archetypal psychology as a basis for developing theory, and especially, down-to-earth applications, is ongoing and evolving constantly.

In the mid-1970s, James Hillman, a psychologist who trained at the Jung Institute in Zurich, also called his work Archetypal psychology. He reports his is in the Jungian tradition and most directly related to Analytical psychology, yet departs radically. His "archetypal psychology" relativizes and deliteralizes the ego and focuses on the psyche, or soul, itself and the archai, the deepest patterns of psychic functioning, "the fundamental fantasies that animate all life" (Moore, in Hillman, 1991). Hillman's archetypal psychology is a polytheistic psychology in that it attempts to recognize the myriad fantasies and myths—gods, goddesses, demigods, mortals and animals—that shape and are shaped by our psychological lives. To him, the ego is but one psychological fantasy within an assemblage of fantasies. Hillman's archetypal psychology is, along with the classical and developmental schools, one of the three schools of post-Jungian psychology outlined by Andrew Samuels (see Samuels, 1995).

Influences

The main influence on the development of archetypal psychology is Carl Jung's analytical psychology. It is strongly influenced by Classical Greek, Renaissance, and Romantic ideas and thought. Influential artists, poets, philosophers, alchemists, and psychologists include: Nietzsche, Henry Corbin, Keats, Shelley, Petrarch, and Paracelsus. Though all different in their theories and psychologies, they appear to be unified by their common concern for the psyche—the soul.

Hillman (1975) sketches a brief lineage of archetypal psychology.

By calling upon Jung to begin with, I am partly acknowledging the fundamental debt that archetypal psychology owes him. He is the immediate ancestor in a long line that stretches back through Freud, Dilthey, Coleridge, Schelling, Vico, Ficino, Plotinus, and Plato to Heraclitus—and with even more branches yet to be traced (p. xvii).

Polytheistic psychology

Thomas Moore says of James Hillman’s teaching that he “portrays the psyche as inherently multiple”.[1] In Hillman’s archetypal/polytheistic view, the psyche or soul has many directions and sources of meaning—and this can feel like an ongoing state of conflict—a struggle with one’s daimones. According to Hillman, “polytheistic psychology can give sacred differentiation to our psychic turmoil.…”[2] Hillman states that

The power of myth, its reality, resides precisely in its power to seize and influence psychic life. The Greeks knew this so well, and so they had no depth psychology and psychopathology such as we have. They had myths. And we have no myths as such—instead, depth psychology and psychopathology. Therefore…psychology shows myths in modern dress and myths show our depth psychology in ancient dress."

Hillman qualifies his many references to gods as differing from a literalistic approach saying that for him they are aides memoires, i.e. sounding boards employed "for echoing life today or as bass chords giving resonance to the little melodies of life."[4] Hillman further insists that he does not view the pantheon of gods as a 'master matrix' against which we should measure today and thereby decry modern loss of richness.

Psyche or Soul

Hillman has his own definition of soul. Primarily, he notes that soul is not a “thing”, not an entity. Nor is it something that is located “inside” a person. Rather, soul is “a perspective rather than a substance, a viewpoint towards things… (it is) reflective; it mediates events and makes differences…”(1975). Soul is not to be located in the brain or in the head, for example (where most modern psychologies place it), but human beings are in psyche. The world, in turn, is the anima mundi, or the world ensouled. Hillman often quotes a phrase coined by the Romantic poet John Keats: “call the world the vale of soul-making.”

Additionally, Hillman (1975) says he observes that soul:

refers to the deepening of events into experiences; second the significance of soul makes possible, whether in love or religious concern, derives from its special relationship with death. And third, by soul I mean the imaginative possibility in our natures the experiencing through reflective speculation, dream, image, fantasy—that mode which recognizes all realities as primarily symbolic or metaphorical.

The notion of soul as imaginative possibility, in relation to the archai or root metaphors, is what Hillman has termed the “poetic basis of mind.”

Dream analysis

Because Hillman's archetypal psychology is concerned with fantasy, myth, and image, it is not surprising that dreams are considered to be significant in relation to soul and soul-making. Hillman does not believe that dreams are simply random residue or flotsam from waking life (as advanced by physiologists), but neither does he believe that dreams are compensatory for the struggles of waking life, or are invested with “secret” meanings of how one should live (à la Jung). Rather, “dreams tell us where we are, not what to do” (1979). Therefore, Hillman is against the 20th century traditional interpretive methods of dream analysis. Hillman’s approach is phenomenological rather than analytic (which breaks the dream down into its constituent parts) and interpretive/hermeneutic (which may make a dream image “something other” than what it appears to be in the dream). His dictum with regard to dream content and process is “Stick with the image.”

Hillman (1983) describes his position succinctly:

For instance, a black snake comes in a dream, a great big black snake, and you can spend a whole hour with this black snake talking about the devouring mother, talking about anxiety, talking about the repressed sexuality, talking about the natural mind, all those interpretive moves that people make, and what is left, what is vitally important, is what this snake is doing, this crawling huge black snake that’s walking into your life…and the moment you’ve defined the snake, you’ve interpreted it, you’ve lost the snake, you’ve stopped it.… The task of analysis is to keep the snake there.…

The snake in the dream does not become something else: it is none of the things Hillman mentioned, and neither is it a penis, as Hillman says Freud might have maintained, nor the serpent from the Garden of Eden, as Hillman thinks Jung might have mentioned. It is not something someone can look up in a dream dictionary; its meaning has not been given in advance. Rather, the black snake is the black snake. Approaching the dream snake phenomenologically simply means describing the snake and attending to how the snake appears as a snake in the dream. It is a huge black snake, that is given. But are there other snakes in the dream? If so, is it bigger than the other snakes? Smaller? Is it a black snake among green snakes? Or is it alone? What is the setting, a desert or a rain forest? Is the snake getting ready to feed? Shedding its skin? Sunning itself on a rock? All of these questions are elicited from the primary image of the snake in the dream, and as such can be rich material revealing the psychological life of the dreamer and the life of the psyche spoken through the dream.…

The Soul's Code

Hillman's book, The Soul's Code: In Search of Character and Calling, outlines an "acorn theory of the soul." His theory states that each individual holds the potential for their unique possibilities inside themselves already, much as an acorn holds the pattern for an oak, invisible within itself. It argues against the parental fallacy whereby our parents are seen as crucial in determining who we are by supplying us with genetic material and behavioral patterns. Instead the book suggests for a reconnection with what is invisible within us, our daimon or soul or acorn and the acorn's calling to the wider world of nature. It argues against theories which attempt to map life into phases, suggesting that this is counter-productive and makes people feel like they are failing to live up to what is normal. This in turn produces a truncated, normalized society of soulless mediocrity where evil is not allowed but injustice is everywhere—a society that cannot tolerate eccentricity or the further reaches of life experiences but sees them as illnesses to be medicated out of existence.

Hillman diverges from Jung and his idea of the Self. Hillman sees Jung as too prescriptive and argues against the idea of life-maps by which to try to grow properly.

Instead, Hillman suggests a reappraisal for each individual of their own childhood and present life to try and find their particular calling, the acorn of their soul. He has written that he is the one to help precipitate a re-souling of the world in the space between rationality and psychology. He replaces the notion of growing up, with the myth of growing down from the womb into a messy, confusing earthy world. Hillman rejects formal logic in favour of reference to case histories of well known people and considers his arguments to be in line with the puer aeternus or eternal youth whose brief burning existence could be seen in the work of romantic poets like Keats and Byron and in recently deceased young rock stars like Jeff Buckley or Kurt Cobain. Hillman also rejects causality as a defining framework and suggests in its place a shifting form of fate whereby events are not inevitable but bound to be expressed in some way dependent on the character of the soul or acorn in question.

Steve Jobs, 1955 - 2011

SSteven Paul "Steve" Jobs (February 24, 1955 – October 5, 2011) was an American computer entrepreneur and inventor. He was co-founder, chairman, and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. Jobs also previously served as chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios; he became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006, following the acquisition of Pixar by Disney. He was credited in Toy Story (1995) as an executive producer.

In the late 1970s, Jobs—along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, Mike Markkula and others—designed, developed, and marketed one of the first commercially successful lines of personal computers, the Apple II series. In the early 1980s, Jobs was among the first to see the commercial potential of Xerox PARC's mouse-driven graphical user interface, which led to the creation of the Macintosh. After losing a power struggle with the board of directors in 1985, Jobs resigned from Apple and founded NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in the higher-education and business markets. Apple's subsequent 1996 buyout of NeXT brought Jobs back to the company he co-founded, and he served as its CEO from 1997 until August 2011.

In 1986, he acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm Ltd which was spun off as Pixar Animation Studios. He remained CEO and majority shareholder at 50.1 percent until its acquisition by The Walt Disney Company in 2006. Consequently Jobs became Disney's largest individual shareholder at 7 percent and a member of Disney's Board of Directors. On August 24, 2011, Jobs announced his resignation from his role as Apple's CEO.

On October 5, 2011, Jobs died in California at age 56, seven years after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Psychological Astrology, Astrological Psychology or Astropsychology is a recent product of the cross-fertilisation of the fields of astrology with depth psychology, humanistic psychology, and transpersonal psychology. It uses the horoscope and the archetypes of astrology to inform the psychological understanding of an individual's psyche.

It owes its origins to the writings of Carl Jung in the 1950s. Jung once said "astrology represents the summation of the psychological knowledge of antiquity" (1962). He went on to synthesize his own Analytical psychology theories with those of Western astrology.

Other significant pioneers include Liz Greene and Howard Sasportas who in 1983 founded the Centre for Psychological Astrology. Bruno Huber & Louise Huber also developed their own method of astrological psychology, referred to as the Huber Method which links to Roberto Assagioli's work with psychosynthesis.

When Carl Jung was investigating the symbolic meaning of dreams; he would commonly come across mythical figures that have been passed down to us from our ancestors. He then noticed a correlation in the images pictured in ones dreams to the gods that were attached to heavenly figures mapped out in the stars. From this the g concluded that the heavenly figures in astrology come from images we make in our minds. Jung felt that it was these mental images that brought about astrology. He did believe that astrology could teach us about the human mind but on a general level. Several astrologers as well as psychologists followed up on his claims and found that from horoscopes they could discover the structure of their character. From this they assumed that a person’s mental difficulty could be found through the horoscope. This was the start of astrology making its way and influencing some psychological tactics. Psychological astrology does not directly believe that a persons everyday life is dictated by the position of the stars. It just shows the horoscope as a mere tool to help identify a person’s attributes. For example a psychological astrologer might use a horoscope method to see if the individual possesses specialized abilities based on their mindset.

Proof of this pseudo-science is very difficult. Astrologers working in a psycho-diagnostic framework rely upon personal experience to justify why psychological astrology can provide meaningful information about a persons character. The external influences on a person can cause them to feel as if the horoscope is accurately portraying their mental issues. According to Riemann, “The dispositions visible in the horoscope are then covered up and their unfolding is blocked by external influences. The horoscope then helps in once again uncovering the buried dispositions.” It is because of this reliance on personal experience and the likelihood of external influences, that scientific evidence would show that the diagnosis of a psychological issue most likely couldn’t be made by a horoscope, causing psychological astrology not to be considered a science. However, within the psychological world of study it is found to work with certain empirical and theoretical methods. In psychology’s past there have been experiences in which methods were applied to patients that called for horoscopes being used as a diagnostic for showing their mental characteristics. These experiences haven’t been able to show any testable empirical evidence that it was in fact the horoscope that found out the mental characteristics of a person and that that was in fact an actual characteristic of that person. This is also another cause for the lack of scientific recognition of the pseudo-science.

Even if there was empirical evidence of psychological astrology actually working, that would indicate a correlation between heavenly figures in the sky and a person's predispositions at birth. While not conflicting with already accepted scientific methods that define and discover a person’s mental characteristics, studies have been unable to verify such things as intangible as personality traits on a quantifiable level acceptable to the scientific community. Jung believed that there are reasons to suspect that heavenly bodies actually effect a person's development at birth, and that the correlation is acausal and not actually influenced by the planets and stars themselves.[1] He went on to further state his reasons for believing the mindset of a person involved in supposedly aucausal phenomena was crucial in whether the correlation even existed. Psychological astrology is then again brought back to connections through personal experience. It is because of this innate inability a solid empirical form of evidence that based on current scientific standards.

Using Occam's Razor from Carey, rival explanations can be found about why the horoscope may seem to accurately identify the mental characteristics of an individual, that are more generally accepted than that of an astrological explanation. When a person is mentally evaluated by a psychological astrologer and is told their prediction of their mental characteristics they will begin to associate things they do with what the astrologer is saying, which will give the perception that they are accurately portraying their attributes. A study done by Shawn Carlson took astrological charts that were prepared for 83 subjects, based on natal data from his data the results showed that, "Each subject was given three charts: one chart based on their own natal data, and two charts derived from natal data of other people. Each subject was asked to identify the chart that most correctly described him or her. In only 28 of the 83 cases, the subject chose their own chart. This is the exact success rate expected for random chance. The astrologers predicted that the subjects would select their own chart more that 50% of the time." In order to balance any bias against astrology it is worth looking at the recent book, 'Cosmos and Psyche, Intimations of a New World View,' by respected cultural historian, philosopher, and psychologist Richard Tarnas, which offers new evidence in support of the astrological worldview.

Suppose a prisoner is released and compelled to stand up and turn around. His eyes will be blinded by the firelight, and the shapes passing will appear less real than their shadows.Similarly, if he is dragged up out of the cave into the sunlight, his eyes will be so blinded that he will not be able to see anything.

At first, he will be able to see darker shapes such as shadows and, only later, brighter and brighter objects. The last object he would be able to see is The Sun, which, in time, he would learn to see as that object which provides the seasons and the courses of the year, presides over all things in the visible region, and is in some way the cause of all these things that he has seen (The Republic bk. VII, 516b-c; trans. Paul Shorey).

This part of the allegory, incidentally, closely matches Plato's metaphor of the sun which occurs near the end of The Republic, Book VI.

Once enlightened, so to speak, the freed prisoner would no doubt want to return to the cave to free "his fellow bondsmen". The problem, however, lies in the other prisoners' not wanting to be freed: descending back into the cave would require that the freed prisoner's eyes adjust again, and for a time, he would be one of the identifying shapes on the wall. This would make his fellow prisoners murderous toward anyone who attempted to free them.

Plato's The Allegory of the Cave tells us lot of thing!!!If prisoners doesnt want to know the meaning of the sun, then how could We ( Astrologers )explain prisoners to understand a Horoscope chart or Astrology.

THE GATE OF LIFE AND DEATH

Thus the Zodiac and the planets are as a book in which we may read the history of Humanity during past ages, and they also give a key to the future which is in store for us.

In the famous Zodiac in the Temple of Denderah, Cancer is not pictured as we have it in modern days. There it is a beetle, a scarab. This was the emblem of the soul, and Cancer has always been known in ancient times, as well as among modern mystics, to be the sphere of the soul, THE GATE OF LIFE in the Zodiac whence the spirits coming into rebirth, enter our sub-lunary conditions.

It is therefore aptly ruled by the Moon which is the planet of fecundation, and it is noteworthy that we find Capricorn, which is its opposite, ruled by Saturn the PLANET OF DEATH AND CHAOS, who is mystically depicted as "the reaper with his scythe and hour glass in hand." These two opposite signs are therefore turning points in the soul's career.

Cancer and Capricorn respectively mark the highest ascent of the Sun into the Northern Hemisphere, and its lowest descent into the South. We observe that during the summer when the Sun is in the sphere of Cancer and allied signs, fecundation and growth are the order of the day.

But when the Sun is in the South, in Capricorn, we have winter, when nature is dead. The fruits of the summer are then consumed and assimilated by us.

As a circle dance of the Sun among the twelve signs determines the seasons of the year WHEN DIRECT, causing the germination of myriads of seeds cast in the earth, also the mating of the fauna, which then makes the world alive with the sights and sounds of manifested life, and at another time leaves the world dumb, dull and drear in winter's gloom, under the sway of Saturn, so by the slower backward movement, known as the PRECESSION OF THE EQUINOX, does it produce the great changes which we know as Evolution.

In fact, this precessional measure of the sun marks the birth and death of races, nations and their religions, for the pictorial Zodiac is a symbolical presentation of our past, present and future development.

EVOLUTION AS SHOWN IN THE ZODIAC

It is a matter of common knowledge among mystics that the evolutionary career of mankind is indissolubly bound up with the divine hierarchies who rule the planets and the signs of the Zodiac, and that passage of the Sun and the planets through the twelve signs of the Zodiac, marks man's progress in time and in space. Therefore it is not to be wondered at, that in the course of their investigations into the spiritual development of mankind, the writers have also encountered much that deals with the Zodiac which is the boundary of our evolutionary sphere at the present time.

So much has been perceived in THE MEMORY OF NATURE that sheds light upon obscure passages of the Bible, that notes have been made from time to time of different points, but how to collect and collage these dissociated writings into a united whole, has been a great problem for a long time.

Even now, the writers know and feel that what they are bringing forth is only a very, very weak attempt to set before the students that great body of facts which have come to them through the memory of nature. They feel, however, that this will give a new and more profound meaning to the old symbols, and that by passing on what has been found they put themselves in line to receive more light.

Concerning the future evolution of planets; the Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception teaches, that "when the beings upon the planet have evolved to a sufficient degree, the planet becomes a Sun, the fixed center of the Solar System. When the beings there have evolved to a still greater degree, and consequently it has reached its maximum of brilliancy, it breaks up into a Zodiac and becomes, so to speak, the womb of a new Solar System.

Thus the Great hosts of Divine beings who, until then, were confined upon that Sun gain freedom of actions upon a great number of stars whence they can affect, in different ways, the system which grows up within their sphere of influence. The planets or many-bearing worlds within the Zodiac are constantly being worked upon by these forces but in various ways according to the stage they have reached in evolution.

Our Sun could not have become a sun until it set out from itself all the beings who were not sufficiently evolved to endure the high rate of vibration and the great luminosity of the beings who were qualified for that evolution. All the beings upon the different planets would have been consumed had they remained in the Sun. This visible Sun, however, though it is a place of evolution for beings vastly above man, is not by any means, the Father of other planets, as material science supposes. On the contrary, it is itself an emanation fron THE CENTRAL SUN, which is the invisible source of all that IS in our solar system."

"Our visible Sun is but the mirror in which are reflected the Rays of energy from the Spiritual Sun, the real Sun is as invisible as the REAL man."

From this teaching it is apparent that the great spiritual hierarchies which are now guiding our evolution, have had their training for this path in previous schemes of manifestation, also that what THEY are now doing, WE shall some day do FOR OTHERS.

Already the foremost among our race are treading the path of initiation, and have thereby advanced into stages, far beyond the general status of our present humanity. It has been learned that those who have gone through the Mercurial School of the lesser Mysteries, and have graduated from the School of the Greater Mysteries are now preparing human evolution for the Jupiter Period. They have entered the planet Jupiter, by way of one of the Moons, which serves as a stepping stone.

Others there are, unfortunately, who have gone the other way. We read in the Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception, that even as the whole population of the earth was at one time expelled from the present Sun because of their inability to keep up with the vibrations of the beings thereon, thus hindering them and being hindered themselves, so also it becomes necessary in the Lemurian Epoch, to expel a number of the stragglers from earth.

Thus the Moon was cast out into space to revolve as a Satellite around our present planet. Those unfortunates are gradually degenerating and the time will come when they will all go to the planet Saturn, which is the door to Chaos. Thence they will be expelled to inter-planetary space to await the time when, in a new system, there will be a favorable condition for their further evolution.

History of Astrology

 History of Astrology

"A few words about astrology through the ages" or "summary of the history of Astrology" would probably be more appropriate title for this record, but ... Even to summarize in a few pages of the history of World Astrology which found the first traces 4000 years ago is not easy! Timetables oracular Egyptians, and Chinese Astrology Precolombiens to Modern via the golden days of Astrology in 15 th century, then the obscurantism of the 17 th century, there is much to say. Through the centuries, depending on the continent, Astrology has been perceived, accepted, practiced differently.

Admittedly, since Babylon, it has evolved along the course of human progress, taking advantage of new knowledge, technological advances, the best knowledge of the world by humans, but if it is interesting to develop and understand, ' is not essential, because there is no direct relationship between the historical precedence of the time and look it relates to Astrology.

What we think is much more important is the relationship, the interaction between the design of society itself and the rest of the world, and how it accepts (not) Astrology at a time given in a particular location around the globe. We will not pretend, in a few pages, to deal with all of the history of astrology, it would report also tedious reading ... But some examples seem interesting to understand how the discipline has evolved over the centuries.

Indeed, some argue that Astrology is not an exact science and yet ... We can notice, through its history, that Astrology is often better understood in the technically advanced societies and intellectually open to the world, and that ultimately the way it has been apprehended depends less on the time that the company in itself. During the Renaissance, for example, renewal formidable intellectual, scientific and cultural development of European society, politically astrologers were present: In Hungary, the decision was taken to date was to be built Presbourg University with a study astrological. In England, on astrologers employed as ambassadors, anywhere Astrology was taught in universities and she was able to flourish.

While the latest despotism when France became the very foundation of society, when the monarchy commit the fundamental mistake to pull back on itself, crystallize in a state immutable, so that it the World continued to evolve, Astrology was, initially discouraged and prohibited. Diderot and Voltaire and the raillaient mocked them, Colbert prohibits academicians of the exercise, and Leibniz, yet tolerant, said he despised that "what led to the pure illusion, as the astrological divination."

But what Astrology is seen as a science, a philosophy or school of thought, that is not the subject of this case. Its purpose is not to debate or argue to convince them that ... Astrology Works! We just want to say a few words about its history, the history of Astrology, which is discipline, in the words of Ernest Cassirer in 1922 "One of the most grandiose attempts ever dared to the human spirit to give a representation overall World "...

In ancient Egypt, China and pre-Columbian America, we find the trace of divination schedules that are a kind of precursor of Astrology. It would be long to itemise all, and even if the subject is exciting, this is not the subject of this case. We have therefore chosen to speak specifically oracular Egyptian calendars (also called Nile calendars), as they seem to represent a subtle perception of the world by man, a faculty interesting to understand the environment for intellectual , scientific and religious in order to better know him.

These calendars were oracular starting point fluctuations Nile and the need to provide its waters if fertilizers - but also destructive - and thus allow more effectively regulate agriculture. We must understand that any Egyptian society had been conceived and built around the Nile, not for the tame but to live in harmony with this gift from heaven. In predicting the flooding was vital to the survival of the community and find a harmony with nature gave birth to an intellectual elite mathematicians, engineers and astronomers.

Around 1500 BC, observing Sirius stand, the Egyptians predicted the coming flood of the river and knew when the annual cycle again. In ancient Egypt, science and religion have no objection, elders Egyptians were very pious, venerating the Light, the source of eternal life and believe in the manifestation of God in the sun. This piety, combined with knowledge of mathematics and astronomy indisputable that fit that Egypt was the first civilization to establish a calendar year cut in 12 months and 360 days (to which they added 5 days interlayers placed at the end of the schedule). The party celebrating the new year matched the day of the annual flooding of the Nile, and each month was under the influence of a God who characterized. The months were themselves divided into 3 "décans" 10 days and the days themselves cut into 2 periods of 12 hours, also under the influence of superior forces, the Planets. Depending on the month of birth, date and time, a person was placed under the influence of a God and Planets.

Of course, these calendars Oracle had little to do with Astrology as it is understood and practiced nowadays, but they still reflect a desire some men try to master their destiny ...

Like the Egyptians, the Chinese had a pretty fine perception of the world around them and there was a gap between the sophisticated civilization and religion which we believe is now extremely primary, with for example the belief in the Gods domestic . For the Chinese, there was total harmony with heaven, earth and man and the latter should ensure smooth functioning of the established order, between life and death, activity and rest, day and night, which both flow fundamental principles of Yin and Yang, each growing when the other goes down, and taking the power when the other loses. To fulfil this task "oversight", the man was observed events among themselves and the meaning of their correspondence with the cosmos. Very early in China, circa 2350 BC were established timetables year in which China was divided into 12 lunar months and for a very long time there was an astrology based on the principle of "8 trigrams," composed of symbols lines straight or off that reflected the principles of Yin and Yang, Yang is masculine, active solar diurnal and builder and Yin rather feminine, passive, lunar night and sometimes destructive.

In Yin and Yang were associated elements 5, wood, fire, metal, water and earth themselves linked to the twelve animals of the zodiac Rat (Ram), the Beef (Taurus), the Tiger (Gemini ), the Hare (Cancer), the Dragon (Lion), Serpent (Virgin), Horse (Balance), Mouton (Scorpion), The Monkey (Sagittarius), La Poule (Capricorn), Chien (Aquarius) the Pork (Pisces). These three principles ensured the harmony of the cosmos and constituted the foundation of Chinese astrology.

Every Chinese, at its birth, consisted of a kind of "calling card" astral composed of 8 trigrams, 2 for the year, 2 for the month, 2 for the day and 2 for double time when he was born, and to interpret Chinese astrologers should take account of a large number of combinations. For the anecdote, Chinese astrology does the time of birth that for every two hours: for example, two individuals born eg 14.00 or 15.55 rigorously have the same topic (the day is divided into 12 double slice of hour), which also brings some criticism and some remarks on behalf of Western astrology clearly differentiates two themes hours of birth separated by just a minute or even a few seconds.

Unlike the Chinese and Egyptians, Romans, the peoples of peasants and soldiers, were more interested in war, politics and conquests by science and in ancient Rome, although Astrology experienced some beautiful times, it was in any case included solely for the purpose of serving power. In 118 BC, the defeat of the king of Syria, Antiochus III had the effect, among other things, that hundreds of nomads flock to Rome, a prestigious metropolis.

Among them were "Chaldeans" fortune-tellers and horoscopes makers. The people of the consulted for its future and 139 BC, an edict was issued banning them Italian soil because they "exploited popular credulity with their astrology misleading." But the slaves and freedmen working for the Roman families do not fall within the purview of this ban, and continued to predict, some Roman rich and powerful who wanted to assimilate Greek culture, rival of the Roman culture, taking under their protection.

Discussions are followed, during which some members of the Academy became critics of the Astrology, using arguments that we hear today, as individuals born at the same time or in one place have the same horoscope, and yet they often have designed completely different. "

Astrology experienced a subsequent period embellished with the arrival on the floor of the Roman Posidonios of Apamea, possessor of an encyclopaedic knowledge, who taught in Rome, which took students as famous as Caesar and Cicero. Astrology became fashionable, only wastelands thought this could not, horoscopes were widely disseminated and it be used to buy jewellery and precious stones representing the signs of the zodiac, though still imperfect timing of the Romans led to doubts immense same signs as to which they belonged: the famous Emperor Augustus himself is passionately Astrology, ignored all his life if he was Capricorn or Balance ... Mathematician (in Rome astrologers were called Chaldeans is either mathematicians because of the calculations necessary) and poet Manilius also composed for him his Astronomiques, didactic poem in 5 books on astrology.

The powerful Roman Empire lasted more than 500 years, and here we are not going to explain in detail its history, it is important to understand that during this period and contrary to Ancient Egypt, Astrology, rejected and denied prohibited, or on the contrary praised and promoted based on the personal ambitions of politicians in place, which was used to serve power.

In the struggles between Powers toll intellectual foundations of the ancient culture, astrology came to a very special place and found unexpected allies in Christianity, even if it seems obvious that the "fatalism" astral, somewhat akin At that time the Stoic thought was in total opposition to the Christian dogmas of the omnipotence of God. But astrology adapted to the Christian belief of hi, rejecting some form of fatalism to replace it gradually by the free will. For many, the stars were not the driving forces, but simple signs and thought astrological influenced the early Christians.

This resulted in the birth of some form of astrology "Christianized", which saw the astral configurations divine signs and left to man's free will, therefore finding adherents among Christians and even the clergy. It was not until the arrival of St. Augustine, a man with a strong personality and a new situation in the church and in the state, leading to the end of the ancient astrology.

In India, the first traces of Astrology date back several thousand years, these writings are so distant that the Vedas, we speak often of Vedic Astrology rather than Hindu Astrology.

There are three separate systems that constitute the Hindu Astrology:

-- Parasari (the wise Parasara, disciple of Saunaka, himself Narada, belongs to the descendants of the Prophet Vedic Vasishta, the son of Uma Sakti have lived there more than 5000 years);

-- Jaimini, whose name derives from its author,

-- Jatakapi or Tajak, more modern and Astrology influenced by Arabic, and which deals with horoscopes progressed (technique is to move the planets with a match year / day).

It would be futile here to describe these systems very comprehensive - and very complex - which would require a book for each. Most important of these astrologies Hindu is that they are based on sidereal zodiac and not for the tropical Western Astrology: The sidereal zodiac is based on the constellations while the tropical zodiac is based on the signs, it is pegged to the seasons in some way. Both zodiacs are shifted because every year, a shift of about 50 seconds between the signs of constellations, it is called the precession of the equinoxes.

Both systems based on astrological zodiac these two are quite different, and it is not a question of going into the debate as to which one is most effective. Another distinctive feature of Hindu astrology, like Arabic, even if it seems obvious ... Is not to take account of planets beyond Saturn: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto that were not visible to the instruments of the time.

The vocation of spiritual Hindu Astrology also differs from the Western Astrology, more intellectual. The lunar nodes - spiritual or karmic nature - for example are studied in Hindu Astrology. The theme is used in a square shape that was long favoured in Western astrology.

It is time to say a few words about Astrology Helléniste, born while the Greek civilization had tremendous influence throughout the world, especially in Eastern countries, Astrology outcome of both science astral Eastern, Greek philosophy and of Thought Egyptian and which is still the foundation of modern astrology.

Astrology Hellenist was composed of 4 main factors: the planets, the zodiac, the circle of 12 houses and configurations that generated these aspects, the birth of the first astral themes elsewhere individualized dating from that period.

Later, Claudius Ptolemaeus (v100-v170) mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, geographer and musician who lived much of his life in Alexandria, a city hosting many scientists, was one of the fathers of modern Astrology through her research and books, the most famous of which, containing Almagest as stated Ptolemy himself an exhibition system in the world, is today a household name. His calculations regarding astronomy and especially the movements of planets, as well as the work of geographer allowed him to map the planet with high precision for the time he invented and the Astrolabe, an instrument that led to a plane representation the sky for a latitude and a certain date.

That Ptolemy who was the author of that sentence if sage who represents the whole philosophy of modern astrology: "The stars incline but do not."

To interpret the horoscope, Arabs (Arabs we will hear from all the people who wrote in the vernacular) were referring, among other sources, to the works of Ptolemy. Astrology Arabic took three forms: Astrology généthliaque (on the daily horoscope birth), Astrology and hourly Astrology magic to invoke the Gods global and making talismans and amulets effective, combining influence of a planet with metals and signs that it corresponded. Astrology généthliaque, which found little literature, but the oral tradition that has preserved, was based (and still is today) on the principle that life is a struggle and that men are born under the sign two weapons, one for the birth (what are we starting? What are our potential?) and one for the arrival (as we are now?) Weapons are three types of short, medium or long depending on their symbolic.

In the early Middle Ages, Celts, Slavs and Germans were using astronomy necessary for their many travels but Astrology was seen almost everywhere as pagan. It's just that Louis will Stake took the advice of astrologers, but it remains a very special case. After the collapse of the Carolingian Empire disputes settled and we found in this troubled time when uncertainty and anxiety reigned, a rise of the influence of the Greco-Arabic thought, very significant in monasteries, which became places of reflection, listening to new philosophies.

At that time, The Nature was the mainstay of philosophical thought and religious. God had created for the benefit of man, and we were to agree that astrology can predict everything that was the time he would do for agriculture or even diseases due to natural causes but it is able to predict in any case that was directly dependent on the free will of man. From great minds of the time, as St. Thomas Aquinas, Italian philosopher and theologian (1225-1274) believed that predict the fate of a man was an illusion demonic.

But Astrology learned (as opposed to Astrology popular because it deals with the global aspects of each individual in particular) at that time also found defenders, in the person among other things, the English Roger Bacon (1214-1294 ), a man from the point of view very modern, which rose against the formalism of the Dominicans (St. Thomas Aquinas was part), which claimed that no astrologer professait astral fatalism, that the only important thing was the experience very foundation of every philosophy and astrology was one of the pillars. He delivered a fight tirelessly to impose its views, sometimes even unorthodox because he was belligerent character, going so far as to ask the church to encourage research astrological so on the one hand to prevent practices related to astrology pagan and on the other hand to highlight what he called the astrologia sana, based on experience and experimentation.

Astrology Graeco-Arabic therefore penetrated everywhere in the West. In Italy, there were astrologers at the court of Palermo who received favors from the king and one lives Frederik II even ask them to write books on astrology in which they had to explain that the stars were not acting, that 'they could not produce anything themselves but they gave simple signs. There were books on astrology at all universities and libraries. In England, astrologers drafted ephemeris pronostications and "France" and astrologers were also present at the court, although astrology forecast was still regarded as pagan and demonic.

Jean de Meurs, a famous astrologer, was forecast at the sensational combination of great 1345. In recent inquiétèrent strong public opinion and the court, and King Charles V Le Sage did write treaties affirming that these forecasts were in the field of superstition, going so far as to claim that the astrologers had not planned ' black plague epidemic of 1349, which was totally untrue.

Upon followed, France and England in particular, a heated debate between supporters and opponents of astrology divination, which was the direct consequence of challenging the formidable work of Ptolemy, some scientists, religious and intellectuals of the time calling them speculation inconsistent.

In the late Middle Ages currents of thought taking protective and reassuring for the primordial role of Nature in philosophical thought s'estompèrent and men began to look for other answers, while it simultaneously scientific discoveries abounded. .. Renaissance was preparing.

In astronomy, the first discovery of the Renaissance was that of Nicolas of Cusa mathematician (1401-1469), German philosopher and theologian, considered the last thinker of the Middle Ages and the first of the Renaissance, which claimed that the land n had neither centre nor perimeter and it was moving around an axis. He called this theory "theory of relativity location and movement." At the time, this affirmation of marbles left academia and intellectual and astrologers only understood the importance of such a phenomenal discovery.

Nicolas Copernicus (1473-1543) Polish astronomer, was the first to place the sun at the center of the universe, while for 14 centuries no one had dared to say that the earth turns on an axis. By observing Mercury and Venus, he came to the conclusion that the earth turns at the same time on an axis, but also around the sun, a theory which was again greeted very coldly by scientists and again defended by the astrologers. Copernicus tried to convince his peers, and then it is a découragea astrologer who did publish his book in many copies, which had the effect of gradually accept these revolutionary discoveries in spite of their contradiction with the Bible. The assertions Copernic also will be considered heretical by the church in 1616.

Galileo (1564-1642), Italian astronomer very believer, and again defended the work of Copernicus, and invented telescopes that allowed him to discover a wealth of different planets. He went to Rome to try to convince the church to the merits of his discoveries, and became a friend of Young Pope Urban VIII. The discoveries of Copernicus always being tried as heretics, the pope, young and progressive Galilee asked to resume and write a book and contradictory goal on the various systems of the world.

Galileo will several years to write, while continuing to practice astronomy and astrology, and reassuring astrologers who feared that these new discoveries n'ébranlent the foundations of Astrology. When the result of his research was published in 1631, the pope furious because there Galilee defended the work of Copernicus, will order the seizure of the book, but too late because it will be widely distributed. Galilee, to save his life, will be summoned to recant before the Inquisition, and will be found guilty, then rehabilitated after his death in 1757 when the theories of Copernicus will be recognized by the church.

During the Renaissance, the foundations of Astrology, from the Hellenistic system evolved little, maintaining the principle planets, signs, houses and aspects, but the astrological calculations advantage of discoveries in algebra and trigonometry to develop. Tables for detailed calculations taking into account the hours of sunrise and sunset, movements of the planets and their positions were widely disseminated through the introduction of the printing press.

Attitudes quickly expanded, as is always the case when the school of thought that predominates advocates and promotes an opening to the world and the scope of Astrology expanded in all areas, from all branches of know and all sectors of life. Astrologers scientists remained cautious and led a relentless war to charlatans who went up to give advice on the type ridiculous hair or clothing, forecasts that the people s'arrachait. We live also develop astrological medicine, taught in some universities in Europe, discipline that could not be a good doctor by being a good astrologer.

The best-known prophecies are certainly those of Nostradamus (Michel de Nostredame 1503-1560) and seeing french astrologer whose forecasts were highly controversial. He used big conjunctions addition, the planetary cycles and periods of history, his gifts of clairvoyance and published his famous prophecies, which made sense when Henry II died while Nostradamus had predicted.

Everybody has to mind an anecdote about his son, also an astrologer, which put the fire in the small town of Pouzin, in the Ardèche, so that it was destroyed according to his predictions!

Gradually Astrology reached its zenith at the same time as the Renaissance, in Italy it will be supported by the Popes and France Catherine de Medicis will protect and encouraged her, gathering around her astrologers, including one of the most Famous remain Nostradamus.

Different causes then led to a rapid decline of Astrology. The 30-year war beginning with its attendant horrors of dead and revived beliefs with devils and witches, astrologers and were quickly perceived as charlatans who aiguisaient concerns of the people.

Pressure from the church on research and philosophy was another cause of the decline of Astrology, and especially since the rise of rationalist thought, largely due to the rapid progress made by the science of nature and who ruined the whole philosophy of the Renaissance.

Descartes (1596-1650) in his Discourse on the Method, took somewhat theory Bacon, with an approach based on experiments to explain the nature and claimed that it was taken for true and real than what was quantifiable , which obviously excludes the occult sciences, the new mathematical and mechanical design of nature is in total contradiction with what could have Astrology deductive.

In the Enlightenment, Astrology already weakened, was finally washed away by rationalism and despotism become the organizing principle of the rule and life. It deprived the astrologers of their instruments of work and, abandoned by its protectors, Astrology became the plaything of charlatans and the marginalized, serving sometimes simplistic game for ladies of the court. In the encyclopedia published by Diderot and d'Alembert, who was the general structure of the eighteenth century, Astrology was dealt with contempt and Voltaire wrote that no reasonable man could not take it seriously.

Yet, in 1811 when Goethe undertook the writing of his memoirs, it does not feared to begin her story by the comment of his own horoscope, confessing a passion for this discipline and practice for many years. It was in Germany that Astrology is the first defenders which will begin its slow rehabilitation, romantics hoping that German machinery cosmic kind of rationalism mechanical finally to become a living being.

At the beginning of the nineteenth century, the Romantic movement won England where he continued to develop, even if all the researchers Astrology hid behind a pseudonym which is indicative of its poor reputation. In France, the homeland of rationalism par excellence, the defenders of Astrology came together in secret societies whose most famous representatives were Father Constant (under the pseudonym Eliphas Levi) and the doctor Gerard Encausse (under the pseudonym Papus ).

It was not until 1885 qu'Abel Haatan published a book seriously, "The manual Astrology and judicial sphere," followed a few years' share of global Geniuses "by Francois-Charles Barlet, work resumed thereafter and depth by other astrologers, who gave the starting point of Astrology science as we know it today.

Ascendant Trine Pluto

You have an enormous source of energy to draw upon in using your creative abilities. There is literally nothing you cannot do if you set your mind to it. You have the strength and self-confidence to project your ideas and win the full support you need. Tolerating the past only for the lessons it teaches, you look eagerly to a future made more secure from the lessons you have learned. You are eager to communicate what you know to others, but you will not force it on them, preferring to wait for an indication that your suggestions are welcome. Lack of funds is no excuse for inaction in your view, for you feel that there is always a way if one wants something desperately enough. You are clever in converting all your resources into the tangible assets you need to implement your projects.
Knowing your failings, you work hard to transform your negative qualities so they do not limit you. Even more important, you understand your capabilities and emphasize them in seeking your goals. The task of making the future secure challenges you to use every resource you have. You know what you are worth, and you expect to be fully rewarded for the contributions you make in your career. You admire people who seek an education, if they are motivated by a desire to be the best in what they do. Ignorance is no defense for lack of accomplishment, you believe, because you know that being well-informed is as accessible as the nearest library.
You know how to get along with competitors and with associates, and you strive especially to be worthy of the people you deal with. You want to know that you have made an important contribution in stimulating them to reach their goals. But do not assume that without you these people would not be able to succeed. You must realize that many people are quite capable of transforming their own lives and may not need your self-righteous assistance. Be available when they need you, but do not be a nuisance when they are not.
In love you have a deep inner confidence and pride in your body, which makes you an excellent lover, whether or not you fit the popular social image of one. In sexual expression it is inner strength, which you have plenty of, rather than physical appearance, that determines your impact. To this extent you can help a lover who is less aware of bodily pleasures, who has not learned how lucky the soul is to have a body to enjoy. You can reassure a shaky or hesitant partner who may be uncomfortable with the externals of sexuality and thus be inhibited or have more serious problems. In a way such a partner would be very good for you by reminding you of the great variety of assumptions and attitudes that people have about the body. You tend to take your physical being on faith with few questions, which means that intellectually you could learn something about this subject, so you can communicate better with others. This does not mean that you will never have any sexual problems, but that they will be inner or basic problems caused and resolved by circumstances. Your relationship with your body is all right just as it is.

Ascendant Trine Neptune

You have such deep sensitivity that it is difficult for you to be satisfied in personal relationships. Your expectations are rarely fulfilled, for you seek the ideal human relationship. A romanticist at heart, you attribute to people qualities that they do not possess, and then you are disappointed when they let you down. Instead of dwelling on this, you should concentrate on developing your creative ideas. With your imagination and flair for translating your thoughts into inspired action, this should not be difficult. You can easily compensate for the dissatisfaction in personal relationships by channeling your talents into artistic endeavors where you can be fully appreciated. In the beginning you may have to settle for meager returns for your efforts until you acquire the skill of a true and dedicated artist. There are also many other ways to use your talents besides in artistic pursuits. It might be a source of joy for you to work with young people and children and see them develop under your influence.
You tend to dwell on your character faults, especially if others have pointed them out to you. Forget them and go on to develop your abundant positive qualities. You are inclined to feel that you must do more than others to get the recognition you deserve. But beware that you do not become a victim of friends who try to take advantage of your indulgent nature. You are not afraid to work hard if your efforts are appreciated. Knowing that you can make a contribution to your environment in some way, you must persist in finding out "in what way?" in spite of seeming reversals. You should bring your creative gifts before the public, along with your interpretation of what is needed to improve the quality of life for everyone. You can demonstrate your spiritual concern for humanity by actively helping to arouse every individual to use his or her highest values to make the world a better place to live.
You tend to romanticize and idealize love in a spiritual way, but not to the point of being unrealistic. Instead of seeking a relationship that cannot be attained in reality, you use your natural talents to make your current affair more romantic and ideal. Throughout a love affair, you are more concerned with spiritual communication than with the technical aspects of sexuality. But you do this in a natural fashion so that the flow of physical sexuality is not interrupted; rather, infused with the higher qualities of a loving communication. If your partner shares these qualities, this tendency may lead into affairs in which sex is not at all important. In any case you will not seek sexual expression for its own sake, unless you know there is something higher to be gained from it, either immediately or in the future. You will probably retain a certain level of innocence and playfulness which make your sexuality airy and gentle rather than raw and intense. Indeed this trait will enable you to soften a partner who is less at ease and reestablish the flow of sexual communication when it has been broken by your partner''s problems.

Ascendant Trine Uranus

You will always be able to express your creativity when you want mainly because you let everyone know that you will not be denied this privilege. Your creative potentials are considerable, and you only need self-discipline to develop them. But it is useless for anyone to pressure you to do so because you resent interference in this matter and consider it an invasion of your privacy.
Nothing seems to bother you, and your bright, optimistic outlook shows that you are not troubled by personal problems you cannot take care of. You live each day as it comes and are not unduly worried about all the tomorrows, for you know you will take care of them in due time. Generally you are not bothered by subconscious problems because you refuse to dwell on anything negative. You are not a clock watcher nor dependent on time. You enjoy a variety of pleasures, some rather ordinary, but others perhaps bordering on the ridiculous or bizarre. You are a rebel and in many ways a loner. You do not really care whether others have freedom; that is their problem. All you know is that you must be free.
You have an adventurous mind filled with ingenious ideas that you can exploit if you want to. All that restricts you is the money needed for developing them. Since you are not interested in public admiration, you do not feel any obligation to gain status. Your love relationships must be based partly on intellectual rapport, or you easily become bored. You like to believe that you are important in the lives of those you touch. Chances are that anyone who forms a close friendship with you is affected by your concern. You understand people better than they understand themselves. You are pleased that the trend among young people is toward greater individuality and that they are more determined to seek their own destinies free from the confinement of tradition.
You have a talent for making an unusual or even worrisome form of sexual expression seem like the most natural, pleasant pastime in the world. This is a truly remarkable gift that can lead you and your partner to some truly unique experiences. Instead of intellectually planning such situations ahead of time, you seem to just fall into them spontaneously. You can feel quite safe in trying out anything that seems workable and promises real enjoyment for both you and your partner - it probably will work out quite well. But for this you will need a lover who is relatively free from inhibition, who will not cramp your style or be upset by your modes of expression. You are quite capable of handling a partner whose ideas are as unusual as yours but less practical. You can temper those wild ideas and save the situation when things go wrong. Your love life will probably be in continual motion, not because you have many different partners but because your flow of creativity is so consistent. You seldom repeat the old, and you are always uncovering some new source of pleasure.

Ascendant Trine Saturn

You feel a great responsibility for developing your creative potentials to derive the greatest benefit from them. You understand that success does not always come easily and that only hard work will produce the results you want. Although your parents may not have been able to give you any financial advantages, you appreciate them for teaching you to rely on yourself. You are not a trailblazer, but depend on traditional means of expression for your ideas. You prefer to exert yourself in fields that hold reasonable promise of security because you do not like to gamble or take unnecessary chances.
Your priorities are directed to achieving material success and distinction. You measure people by the depth of their conversation, whether they are intellectual or superficial. You like to compare your net worth with that of your contemporaries. You want to be thought of as a person who came up the hard way and succeeded in spite of the odds.
You are loyal to those you care for. Although you may not have a wide circle of friends, you keep the ones you have. You are not especially preoccupied with physical pleasures, primarily because you would rather go without if you cannot have exactly what you want. You are not easily turned on by just anybody. Before you allow yourself to indulge in a romantic escapade, you try to learn what credentials a person has. Your indifference to exclusively physical relationships tends to keep people at a distance. You think you deserve no more then the minimal pleasures you now have because you do not really like yourself enough.
Since you are such an isolationist, you deprive yourself of the companionship of people who really appreciate you. You need to show them that you are warmer than you appear and learn to lower the barriers that keep people from warming to you. Others respect you for your stoicism, but they may also criticize you for your inability to relate.
In love, you exude an air of stability and reliability which makes your partner feel that he or she can lean upon you for support. That is a nice image to project, but it may attract partners who are not self-sufficient and whom you may have to support emotionally. You may not want that in a relationship. You are probably not as sexually assertive as some people, but once committed to an encounter, you can sustain a high level of sexual expression. In general, that is not your desire, however. You prefer sex to be a reinforcing expression of friendship and communication rather than a physically gratifying end in itself. For this reason you may not always have as much sexual expression as you would like, because you are quite particular about the circumstances. It is always harder to find something special than to settle for something commonplace or run of the mill. But once you have found a satisfying partner, you are likely to stick to that relationship so that you can explore the in-depth loving you seek. That experience will make you more secure and more self-aware.

Ascendant Trine Jupiter

You always expect to succeed. You find it possible to make grandiose plans for the future because you know how to capitalize on your creative abilities as tools with which to seek your goals in life. Knowing how is not the same as actually doing something, however, and your success may be delayed by the delusion that you can succeed without a lot of hard work. You like the good life and all its comforts, which can be yours if you are willing to make enormous investment of personal effort.
Although you have high expectations, you secretly fear you will not succeed in winning over your competitors. You over estimate other peoples'' skills and under estimate your own, which can lead you to have a defeatist attitude. Concentrate your efforts on gaining excellence in what you do, so that you can dismiss these anxieties.
The people you work for regard you more highly than you think. Hoping to gain their respect, you attempt to do more than your share in the tasks assigned to you. You admire those who achieve distinction and realize that you must be fully informed if you hope to win similar honors. However, you tend to dawdle when you should discipline yourself in working toward your goals. By indulging in personal pleasures to excess, you waste energy and time that could be used more constructively. Because you are careless about managing your financial affairs, you sometimes cannot avail yourself of opportunities when they arise.
Your talents are needed in many fields, but unless you learn to establish your priorities, you will waste your gifts in non productive enterprises. You are too generous in sharing your ideas with others when you should develop them for your own benefit. Avoid borrowing money if you can; because of your self indulgent nature, it may be painful to repay unless you learn to have greater self control.
You are probably quite lucky in your ability to implement your desires physically and communicate your good feelings to your lover. You do not usually have to be too verbally precise in presenting your idea of a good time; a gesture or general description is all that is necessary to start the ball rolling. Thus your love affairs tend to be natural and easy, not plagued with so many details in need of attention that you cannot enjoy yourselves. If the details get in the way, you take care of them without wasting time or detracting from the general good feelings. Also you may feel that whatever you do is fresh and enjoyable by itself without any need for anything more. This may be true from your own point of view, but your lover may need some startling or stimulating touches added to the relationship now and then. If you go along with your partner''s need for variety, you may discover something new and pleasurable yourself. It is not your style to concoct such plans yourself, because you would rather just fall into loving situations, but sometimes an arranged scene can be quite exciting and should not be overlooked.

Ascendant Trine Sun

You have a generous disposition, and you are self-confident about your ability to succeed in almost everything you do. You are generally optimistic about all your affairs and easily win the cooperation of the people you deal with. Creative by nature, you use your talents with such imagination that it seems inspired. Although you have abundant vitality, you are inclined to be apathetic about taking full advantage of your potentials, so you shortchange yourself of the benefits you could derive from them. Possibly you are even lazy at times, feeling that there is plenty of time to do what you have to do.
You have inherited good resources of character from your parents, but you still have a mind of your own. If you will accept the responsibility for it, you can successfully seek your own fortune. You give too much attention to your shortcomings and failings, and you do not react well to criticism. You like to believe that you do everything as well as the next person, and for the most part you do.
Your future is very important to you, and you seek a career that will allow your creative expression and give you security in your later years. Because you prefer a career that makes demands on your talents, you will probably become a professional in the endeavor you choose. You want to be admired for performing your job well, and you expect to be well paid. You need the challenge of competition in order to strive for excellence in your craft. You should also find a partner who shares your enthusiasm for the good things in life. Such an alliance would make working for your goals and security worth the effort.
In love you generally have a good, easy flow of energy, and you easily transmit your emotions physically. Your expressive brand of body language will enable you to achieve instant communication with a potential partner and allow you to judge immediately, simply by the way a person moves, whether he or she is really interested in you. You can transmit desire and interest in a potential lover without words, simply with movements and expressions. Needless to say, this gives you a natural advantage in love, particularly when first choosing a lover, for you will be spared much of the time consuming rituals of courting. But you should not take for granted this easy ability, or assume that love will always arrive unbidden on your doorstep, even though it has happened before. Instead, use your talent to meet the challenges of a lover who is not at ease, who needs extra attention and perhaps even training in the arts of love. This kind of an affair will keep your talents well-honed and in good repair so that as you get older you will retain the advantages of your youth. Also you will experience a sense of achievement in helping a lover gain the abilities that you were given at birth.

Ascendant Trine Mercury

You know how to express yourself and are rarely misunderstood because you dramatize what you say and get the full attention of your listeners. You know that you are creative; perhaps your parents encouraged you to development your creative potentials and even provided opportunities if they saw you would use them. In any case you do understand your enormous capabilities and only have to decide that you will capitalize on them. You know what you can accomplish as well as what your limits are. You speak optimistically about your goals in life. With your enthusiasm, your chances for succeeding are good, but if there are setbacks or reversals, you will simply start anew, because you do not accept defeat. You learn from every experience and find new ways to use your talents. Determined to succeed, you will always find people who will support you in your endeavors.
You know how to convert your creative resources into cash. Not the most ardent laborer, however, you try to find effective ways to make money with the least amount of physical effort. You are not afraid to take chances to attract attention to your ideas. But you do not trust only to luck, for you know how to examine the details of any proposal and logically evaluate its chances for success.
You know how to de-emphasize your negative qualities and overplay the positive ones. You seek the approval of your friends and generally get it because of your views on matters of mutual interest. You let others think you are primarily concerned for their welfare and best interests. With your superiors you use this tact with masterful skill. Although you recognize the importance of getting an education, you depend more on effective communication to help you get what you want. You do not like to be challenged by competitors if you are uninformed and know you cannot win.
In love your well developed talent for communicating your needs and desires is a natural ability rather than a learned skill. You know intuitively what gesture will add extra meaning to your words, producing maximum effect with minimum effort. You can share this talent with a lover who has difficulties in expressing his or her feelings. With such a partner you can analyze your abilities further. When your lover is having difficulty finding the right word to express an emotion, you can quickly put your finger on it. This helps release many inner tensions and joys in your partner that might otherwise be sources of difficulty and frustration for both of you. In doing this, you can become more analytically self-aware as you learn that what is easy for you is not necessarily easy for others. This will make you more patient with others'' problems as well, as you begin to understand the complexity of effective communication, even though it seems easy at first. As you come to understand yourself better and find new areas that you wish to pursue, you will further develop your talents of self-expression.

Ascendant Trine Moon

This aspect gives you an easy going disposition and allows you to derive much pleasure from creative expression. You are imaginative, sensitive, emotionally poised, and articulate in expressing yourself. You appreciate the sense of values that your parents have instilled in you, and you are prepared to take advantage of your sensitive intellect and develop your own mental resources and ideas. Being resourceful, you will find a way to capitalize on your talents, even though it may be difficult to find the necessary funds to accomplish what you want. You may be forced to do without some necessities, but you feel it is worth it if your main objectives can be realized. Unless you are alert, people will try to take advantage of your good nature to benefit themselves. You should require your friends to prove their worth before accepting them completely. You cannot afford to be indifferent to your own needs in relationships, whether casual or intimate.
You have sufficient talent to make substantial contributions to your career. You realize that to succeed in your professional endeavors, you must make sacrifices in your personal affairs. This might mean deferring marriage until you can get the education you need to succeed in your chosen field. You want to know that you have exploited your creative potentials, and you want the fulfillment that this brings.
Your marital partner must always remain a lover, so that you will continue to make substantial contributions to maintain the fascination and excitement of your first encounter. You need to know you are wanted, and you are crushed if your efforts are unappreciated, especially by those to whom you have been the most generous.
You can probably express your feelings to others quite easily and naturally, and your body and emotions are usually fairly well in tune. This is a particularly happy aspect, because it means for the most part your relationships are pleasant. As a result, you will be able to communicate with others on an emotional level without the necessity for precise verbalization. Why elaborate in words when a meaningful look will do. With most partners this means ease of communication and lack of tension, but you may run across someone who simply does not understand that kind of language or who requires elaborate explanations in order to transmit the message of love. That sort of person is usually not your type, but you may lose a real jewel of a person if you neglect the intellectual side of communication. Because you have so much natural talent in one area, you may become lazy and neglect other areas, which could inhibit your ability to relate to others. Therefore, enjoy and use your natural abilities for emotional expression, but also investigate methods that are not so familiar that can also expand your emotional horizons.
